Pyongyang Cold Noodle, Traditional Korean Food

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- Restaurants including Okryu Restaurant and Pyongyang Noodle House, well-known for serving famous Pyongyang cold noodle, one of traditional Korean food, are crowded with guests even in this winter season.

It is said that Pyongyang cold noodle was originated in the period of Koryo Dynasty (918-1392).

In this regard, Kim Ji Won, a section chief of the Folklore Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences of the DPRK, told KCNA:

There is a story that a king of the dynasty praised Pyongyang cold noodle as the best dish in the world.

Buckwheat, raw materials of the noodle, helps lower high blood pressure and prevent senile arteriosclerosis and other diseases.
