S. Korean Authorities' Fascist Suppression of Sit-in Strikers under Fire
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- South Korean public is strongly denouncing the puppet group of traitors' fascist suppression of sit-in strikers protesting against the building of a Jeju naval base.

The Kangjong Village Society, the All-Island People's Measure Committee for Checking Jeju Military Base and the Measure Committee for Checking Building of Jeju Naval Base in south Korea held a joint press conference on Feb. 2.

At the press conference they held that the military authorities showed only barbarous violence by forcibly dismantling the venue of sit-in of residents in Kangjong village and public activists on Jeju Island on Jan. 31.

The Center for Peace and Disarmament of the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society in a statement on the same day condemned the military authorities' forcible suppression.

It demanded an immediate halt to the construction of the base.

The Jeju Provincial Committee of the Democratic Alliance for New Politics, an opposition party, on Feb. 2 demanded the military immediately set free the inhabitants who were walked away during the reckless suppression by huge police force.

Members of the Jeju Provincial Assembly on Feb. 1 denounced the military for forcibly dismantling the venue of the sit-in strike.
