Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting and film show took place at Pyongyang Koryo Hotel on Wednesday to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Present there on invitation were Pham Viet Hung, Vietnamese ambassador to the DPRK, and his embassy officials.

On hand were So Ho Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and chairman of the DPRK-Vietnam Friendship Association, officials concerned and people in the city.

So Ho Won in a speech referred to the traditional relations of friendship provided by President Kim Il Sung and President Ho Chi Minh for which the preceding leaders have shown deep concern.

The DPRK will as ever make efforts to invariably carry forward and develop the excellent tradition of solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples on the basis of the working class principle and revolutionary obligation, he noted.

Pham Viet Hung said that the historic meeting between respected Nong Duc Manh and General Secretary Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang in 2007 put the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries onto a higher stage.

He wished the fraternal Korean people greater successes in their struggle to improve the standard of people's living, build a thriving socialist nation and reunify the country independently and peacefully under the wise guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

At the end of the meeting the participants watched Korean documental film "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il meets with Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam" October 16-18, Juche 96 (2007).
