The statement went on:

Kim Jong Il was deeply revered and trusted by the Korean people for his shining ideological and theoretical wisdom, distinguished leadership ability and noble traits.

He developed in depth the Songun idea based on the Juche idea and formulated the Songun politics based on it as the main socialist political mode and weathered adversity by dint of Songun.

The service personnel and people of the DPRK defended socialism and opened up a fresh turning phase for building a thriving nation, united close around him.

The single-minded unity of the DPRK achieved by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il is now growing stronger under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

We are confident that the Korean people will surely win the final victory with the might of single-minded unity stronger than nuclear weapons in the future.
