Koreans in Japan Called upon to Dedicate Themselves to Struggle for Reunification
Tokyo, January 29 (KNS-KCNA) -- Pae Ik Ju, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), on Jan. 28 released a statement in response to the appeal of the joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK.

The master key to opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification is to defuse the danger of war and create a peaceful environment on the Korean peninsula, the statement said, and continued:

The U.S., the very one that divided the Korean nation into two, should discontinue its frantic war drills against the DPRK at once and boldly make a policy switch, properly understanding the will of all fellow countrymen to reunify the country.

The south Korean authorities should refrain from seeking the confrontation with the north and "unification of social systems", considering the fellow countrymen in the north as "the enemy" and opposing the ideology and social system in it, but stop depending on foreign forces and choose to achieve the independent reunification and peace and prosperity by paying heed to the voices of all the fellow countrymen desirous of the detente on the peninsula and its reunification.

We will play a vanguard role in uniting the pro-reunification forces abroad, thereby making a tangible contribution to marking the 15th anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the 70th anniversary of national liberation as auspicious events of the entire nation to go down in the history of national reunification.

Chongryon and Koreans in Japan will dedicate their all to the sacred patriotic struggle for reunification with iron faith that a broad avenue can be opened up thanks to supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
