All officials of the youth league and Korean youth and students in Japan fully support the patriotic appeal of the joint meeting which reflected the desire and aspiration of the patriotic forerunners and young Korean compatriots who have longed for national reunification, suffering the pain of national division for 70 years in an alien land, the statement said.

The prerequisite to opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification this year is to clear a dark cloud of war and achieve peace and security on the Korean peninsula, it said, and went on:

The United States, the very one that divided our nation into two and has imposed the suffering of national division upon it, should desist from pursuing the anachronistic policy hostile towards the DPRK and reckless acts of aggression and boldly make a policy switch.

The south Korean authorities should refrain from seeking confrontation of systems and opt for dialogue, negotiations and great national unity.

The officials of the youth league and Korean youth and students in Japan will arouse all Korean youth and students in Japan and overseas under the unfurled banner of By Our Nation Itself and fully display the stamina of the Korean youth in this year's nationwide struggle to open a broad avenue to independent reunification.
