Afforestation Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea boasts of a number of people who have devotedly worked for foresting the country's mountains.

Among them are Ku Pon Gil, a worker of the Yaksu Sanatorium in Kusong City of North Phyongan Province, Jon Song Gwan, a resident in Juhung-ri, Toksong County of South Hamgyong Province, Ri Jong Ho, a forest ranger in Tokhung-ri, Hongwon County of South Hamgyong Province, and Kim Pong Hui, a resident in Koup Workers' District, Kim Hyong Jik County of Ryanggang Province.

Ku Pon Gil has planted trees in areas covering 100 hectares for more than 10 years.

Jon Song Gwan, 74, together with his wife, has cultivated over 510,000 saplings in a 300-square-meter nursery for 18 years. They forested mountains covering 130 hectares.

Ri Jong Ho has created the forests of 300 hectares for 19 years, while cultivating medicinal herbs on two hectares of land.

Kim Pong Hui has cultivated more than one million saplings each year to forest her native land. For scores of years, she sent good species of saplings to the Arboretum of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and the Management Office for Revolutionary Battle Sites in the Secret Camp of Mt. Paektu.
