Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Bereaved families of the ferry Sewol disaster, members of civic organizations, students, religionists, dissidents and other masses in south Korea started an at least 530 km march from Ansan, Kyonggi Province to Phaengmok Port, Jindo, South Jolla Province on Jan. 26.

Before the start of the march a press conference was held in front of the joint incense-burning altar in Ansan.

Speakers at the press conference recalled that the council of families of victims for probing the truth behind the April 16 ferry Sewol disaster and building a safe society was inaugurated on January 25.

What the bereaved families want is to salvage the ferry at an early date, find out those missing and clarify the cause of the disaster and why a rescue operation was not conducted to save passengers.

Declaring that they would conduct a relay march for 20 days in demand of the early salvaging of the ferry and probe into the truth about the disaster, they called on the people to join in it.
