Full Play to Enthusiasm for National Harmony Called for
Tokyo, January 27 (KNS-KCNA) -- Kang Chu Ryon, vice-chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, released a statement on Jan. 26 in support of the appeal to all the Koreans adopted at the joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK.

The statement said that the appeal made at the joint meeting to dynamically open up a broad avenue to independent reunification by the concerted efforts of all Koreans is a patriotic one for national reunification to bring about a great turn in the inter-Korean ties this year.

The statement expressed full support for the appeal, and went on:

The key to ending the tragedy of national division that has lasted for 70 years and opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification lies in defusing the danger of war and creating a peaceful environment on the Korean peninsula and terminating the confrontation of social systems.

The south Korean authorities should break with their American master hell-bent on frantic war drills targeting the north, moves to stifle it and reckless actions hostile to it.

They should no longer trample down the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, great programmes for reunification common to the nation, and precious successes made in the course of implementing them and stop the fascist suppression of the pro-democracy progressive forces at once and opt to achieve independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

It is high time all the fellow countrymen gave the fullest play to their enthusiasm for national harmony and independent reunification.

The statement called upon the officials of the women's union and Korean women in Japan to dynamically turn out in the nationwide struggle to usher in another June 15 era at any cost.
