The statement fully supported the appeal, considering it as a patriotic call which reflects the unanimous aspiration and will of the nation to improve the inter-Korean relations and make a decisive breakthrough for national reunification by concerted efforts of Koreans.

It is the unanimous aspiration and wishes of all Koreans to make this year, the 70th anniversary of national division and the 65th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean war, the first year free from war drills conducted with foreign forces and a year of history where peace settled in the Korean peninsula, the statement said, and went on:

The south Korean authorities should stop nuclear war exercises against fellow countrymen in league with foreign forces for aggression, discontinue leaflet scattering and "human rights" racket against the DPRK and opt for the improvement of inter-Korean relations, independent reunification, dialogue and negotiations with sincerity from a new stance in line with the aspiration of the nation and requirements of the times.

They should make a right option, bearing in mind that the prospect of mending inter-Korean relations entirely depends on how they respond to the patriotic appeal of the DPRK.

The Chinese Regional Committee of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration will further strengthen solidarity and alliance with the organizations for national reunification of people from all walks of life at home and abroad under the unfurled banner of By Our Nation Itself and turn out as one in a nationwide movement to reunify the country and thus glorify this year as a year of bringing about a great turn in opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification.
