Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of the Royal Palace, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee on the instruction of King Norodom Sihamoni.

The preparatory committee set the period for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star from Jan. 22 to Feb. 21 and the period for celebrating the Day of the Sun from Apr. 1 to 30 and decided to give wide publicity to the revolutionary careers and exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the feats performed by them in developing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and organize colorful political and cultural events during the periods.
