Jose Miguel Mejia, secretary general of the United Left Movement of Dominica, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to hold political and cultural events praising the sacred revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il and his immortal exploits in the capital and local areas of Dominica on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star.
