Rodong Sinmun Discloses U.S. Purpose to Stage Joint Military Exercises in S. Korea Again
Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- From the outset of the year the U.S. decided to deploy 12 F-16 fighters and hundreds of forces from its mainland in Kadena air force base in Okinawa. On Jan. 13 and 14 it staged DPRK-targeted joint naval drills in the East Sea of Korea in collusion with the south Korean military warmongers. It is mulling staging Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises, nuclear war drills, in south Korea before long.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a commentary observes in this regard:

Such military moves of the U.S. prove that it dose not want improved inter-Korean relations and peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

The U.S. is planning to massively deploy its troops in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula to render the situation more strained and incite a gruesome war atmosphere in a deliberated manner in a bid to prevent the inter-Korean relations from improving and gain strategic interests.

It is clear to everyone that a peaceful climate cannot be created on the Korean peninsula and inter-Korean relations be mended as long as the U.S. persists in war exercises.

It is foolish for the U.S. to incite confrontation between the north and the south and prevent inter-Korean relations from being mended by getting on the nerves of the DPRK through saber-rattling.

The U.S. had better clearly understand the reality and make a policy switchover in practice by suspending Key Resolve and Foal Eagle to the minimum this year in response to the DPRK's peace-loving efforts as required by the trend of the times.

If the U.S. stages Key Resolve and Foal Eagle together with south Korea again, service personnel and people of the DPRK will be compelled to take countermeasures for protecting the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the nation.
