A fire in an apartment building in Uijongbu of Kyonggi Province on January 10 caused big calamities, 4 dead and more than 120 wounded. It was reported that about 10 out of them got burnt all over their bodies.

Fires also occurred in Jeju City of Jeju Island on January 12 and in Jongro District of Seoul, Sejong City and Yangju and Namyangju of Kyonggi Province on January 13, forcing people to evacuate.

There was also a fire in a market in Yoksam-dong, Kangnam District of Seoul on January 15.
