S. Korean Authorities Accused of Invoking "Security Law"
Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Hangyore in an editorial on Jan. 14 denounced the authorities for invoking the fascist "Security Law" again.

A Korean professor in the U.S. was expelled from south Korea for the mere reason that she talked about her impressions of the north, and a former deputy spokesperson for the Democratic Labor Party was detained, the editorial recalled.

There remains the likelihood that the present chief executive may continue using this evil law as a means for cracking down on political opponents and creating a terrible atmosphere in society like that under the past dictatorial regime, it noted.

The chief executive seems not to understand at all that free expression of facts and opinions are the minimum element for democratization, it held.

The "Security Law" is going rampant though it should be abolished, it said, adding: This reality means a retreat of democracy and shame on society.
