It was hard to produce good-quality sintered expanded vermiculite by the existing methods, which need much consumption of anthracite in its production.

The researchers of the branch developed a new technology of calcinating vermiculite to raise the quality of sintered expanded vermiculite and thus, established a new production process.

The new method cuts away fuel consumption by 30 percent and volume weight per unit by 40 percent.
