Persimmon Popular in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The Korean people have cultivated persimmon from long ago.

More than 40 species of persimmon have been cultivated in the country, which takes a considerable share in its fruit growing, said Dr. Kang Su Ik at Wonsan University of Agriculture.

He said that especially in winter, fresh or dried persimmon is catching eyes of housewives.

Fresh persimmon is of high nutritive and medicinal value as it abounds with glucose, sucrose, Vitamin C, malic and citric acids, iron, calcium, copper, manganese, etc., he added.
