Pyongyang, December 20 (KCNA) -- A memorial article jointly written by the former attorney general of the U.S. and the co-chairman of the International Action Center was posted on Minjok Thongsin, internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S., on Dec. 15 on the occasion of the third anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

The article said three years have passed since the demise of Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the DPRK, adding that he devoted himself to the work for peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula in his lifetime.

Leader Kim Jong Il had a historical summit with Kim Dae Jung, former president of south Korea, in June 2000 and this exploit will go down in history, the article said, and went on:

The historic June 15 joint declaration gave hope to all people.

Thanks to his devoted efforts exchange among people from all walks of life was made between the north and the south and the reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south took place.

The U.S. listed the DPRK as a member of the "axis of evil" and pursued a hostile policy toward socialist Korea in a bid to isolate it while deteriorating the situation on the Korean Peninsula keen to advance towards reconciliation and peace.

Kim Jong Il bolstered military capability for self-defence to cope with the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and persistent threats.

The article expressed the will to work hard to let people widely know about his devoted efforts for defending the sovereignty of the DPRK and national reconciliation and cooperation.
