Application of Tuition-free Program to Korean Schools Demanded
Tokyo, December 15 (KNS-KCNA) -- Students of Korean University of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) held a rally outside the building of the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on Dec. 12 in demand of the application of tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools.

It was attended by leading officials of organizations and enterprises of Chongryon, chairpersons of Chongryon headquarters in Kanto area, other Chongryon officials, Koreans in Japan, teachers and students of Korean University and Japanese personages.

Deploring that the Japanese authorities have excluded Korean schools from the tuition-free program for 4 years for a political reason, speakers termed it an unpardonable human rights abuse seriously encroaching upon the rights of Korean students.

They urged the authorities to apply the program to Korean schools as early as possible.

They declared they would stage actions against the Japanese government's ceaseless suppression of Chongryon and moves for stamping out Korean education.
