All participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

A letter of pledge was read out by Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.

The revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il was the one of a prominent leader who created a new history of building a thriving nation and performed great exploits in the history of the Korean nation and the history of world politics by successfully carrying forward the lineage of the Juche revolution, the letter said, adding:

Kim Jong Il developed the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the Korean People's Army and the state into those of President Kim Il Sung and thus provided a firm guarantee for the eternal prosperity of the nation.

He put forward the young people as successors to the Juche revolution and members of the most dynamic unit for building a thriving nation, made sure that every creation associated with their devoted efforts goes by the name of Chongnyon and left so many stories telling his love for them.

All participants in the meeting renewed their pledge to always hold Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche and defend and glorify their revolutionary exploits through generations, in reflection of the faith and will of all the members of the young vanguard throughout the country.

They stressed that they would become the members of the first-line vanguard and death-defying corps who dedicate their youth and life to defending the WPK with firm will to absolutely trust and follow Kim Jong Un despite any storm and stress.

They chanted in a loud voice the slogans reflecting their ardent will to vigorously advance toward the final victory of the cause of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Present at the meeting were Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK Choe Ryong Hae, officials concerned and those of the youth league and young people and students.
