National Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition opened with due ceremony on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

Seen in the center of the venue was an art piece portraying Kim Jong Il standing atop Mt. Paektu.

On display there are at least 70 art works including paintings showing his revolutionary career and those depicting service personnel and people out in the drive for the building of a thriving nation.

Acryl painting "Dawn of our party history", oil painting "April 14, day of great change" and others deal with the great personalities of Kim Jong Il who glorified the party-building history of President Kim Il Sung.

Displayed there are oil painting "Instilling courage into guards soldiers" and acryl painting "Regarding Songun politics as all-powerful treasured sword" and other drawings, telling about the feats Kim Jong Il performed for army building.

Korean painting "Walking despite heavy rain," watercolor painting "With real father's love" and other art pieces make an impressive portrayal of Kim Jong Il who devoted himself to the country and its people.

Paintings on display also include Korean painting "Leader, don't part from us please," woodcut "General, you should not go," oil painting "Kim Il Sung Square in December," gem-powdered painting "Day breaks on bank of River Chongchon."

An opening ceremony took place at the Korean Art Gallery on Friday.

Present there were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet, An Tong Chun, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature, officials concerned, artists, working people, youth and students in the city of Pyongyang.

Han Chol, vice-minister of Culture, made an opening address.

After the ceremony the participants looked round the art pieces.
