He protected the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula by smashing the imperialists' invasion and high-handed and arbitrary practices with his Songun politics and unrolled a far-reaching plan for building a thriving socialist nation.

Andreas Hugo Pareira, chairman of the Central Directive Council of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, said:

Kim Jong Il was not only the great leader of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people but also a close friend of the Indonesian people and a world political elder.
