Functional Stone-patterned Tile Developed
Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The Ryujong center for exchange and development of solvent technology in the DPRK has recently developed functional stone-patterned tile favorable for human health, which draws great attention of architects.

The tile has proved effective in preventing air pollution while giving aesthetic impression as natural stone, according to Kim Ryong Jin, director of the center.

He said:

The tile is a mixture of such functional materials as Kumgang medical stone, tourmaline, diatomite and light-burned magnesia clinker. Kumgang medical stone, which includes over 50 kinds of microelements like zinc, iron and manganese, helps promoting hematopoietic function in human body.

The tile is several times stronger than activated charcoal in adsorbing bad smells and has functions of purifying air, radiating far-infrared rays, controlling humidity and absorbing sound.

It has been presented to several international expositions, enjoying popularity as a green building material.
