Symposium on Kyongrak Theory to Be Held in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- A national symposium on Kyongrak theory will take place in the DPRK.

In this regard, Ri Il Gon, chief of the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Institute under the Academy of Koryo Medicine, told KCNA:

Kyongrak (channels and collaterals) theory, set up 2 000 years ago as one of anatomical concepts, serves as a major basis for Koryo medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion in particular.

Koryo medicine is a traditional medicine peculiar to the Korean nation, which has been inherited for thousands of years.

In Ancient Korea (early 30th century B.C.-108 B.C.) people used needles made of stone or animal bones in treating diseases. And this developed into acupuncture in the period of Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668) to become known to other countries.

The great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il had paid deep attention to the study of Kyongrak in their lifetime. Under their deep care, a group for research into Koryo medicine was organized in the 1950s and signal achievements were made in the field of traditional medicine.

Some years ago a new chart of meridian nerve points was produced in the country.

The chart, conducive to the treatment of incurable diseases, has been already introduced worldwide through international documents.
