History: Ancient Hill-Fort in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- In Hakhyon-dong, Haeju City, South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK there is a hill-fort called Suyangsansong, which dates back to the Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668).

The fort gives a glimpse of the Korean nation's ardent patriotism and architecture.

From ancient times, it had been called Jisongsansong, one of the three forts in Hwanghae Province.

The fort is 5,258 meters in circumference, high in eastern, southern and northern parts and low in western part. There are two deep valleys and an open space inside it.

The fort is 6 to 7 meters in height, 7 to 8 meters in bed width, 3 to 4 meters in upper width and 14 meters in maximum thickness.

It, restored in 1676, has four gates in all directions. In the fort there are 14 bastions and general's terrace and building sites.

With this fort, the Korean people repelled the invasion of foreign aggressors in 1361 and during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598).

Today the Suyangsansong has turned into a recreation ground for the working people under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea.
