S. Korean Figures Denounce Authorities' Moves to Disband Opposition Party

Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- 235 figures of different social standings including workers and religionists in Taejon, south Korea Wednesday issued a declaration on the situation in protest against the puppet authorities' moves to forcibly disband the Unified Progressive Party (UPP), an opposition party, according to the south Korean Yonhap News.

It accused the regime of working hard to forcibly disband the UPP by labeling it "forces following the north".

The regime's campaign is aimed not just to disband the party but to stem the trend of social democracy itself, it said.

It urged the authorities to retract at once the motion calling for disbanding the UPP.
