Nigatu Dagnachew, chairman of the Ethiopian National Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, was elected chairman of the memorial committee.

The committee decided to organize political and cultural events including a seminar on Kim Jong Il's exploits and film show on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of his demise.
