U.S. Accused of Backing Anti-DPRK Leaflet Scattering Operation
Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea released a statement on Oct. 31 denouncing the U.S. for backing the anti-DPRK leaflet scattering operation behind the scene.

Due to the leaflet scattering operation, inhabitants in the area near the military demarcation line are seized with constant uneasiness and the hard-won atmosphere of improving the north-south relations is in the danger of being spoiled, the statement deplored.

Querying why the leaflet scattering of conservative organizations is going on and who patronizes and finances it, the statement clarified as follows:

The leaflet scattering operation has been intensified since the adoption of the "north Korean human rights act" in the U.S. in 2004.

The "act" stipulates that the U.S. president shall provide financial aid to NGOs to help them conduct actions hurting the social system in north Korea.

After shaping the budget called "the fund for human rights and democracy", the U.S. has funded the organizations of "defectors from the north", targeting the "collapse of the social system in the north".

Since 2008, Washington has provided a fabulous amount of money to the anti-DPRK conspiratorial organizations and conservative media under the pretence of settling "the human rights issue in the north".

Notably, the leaflet scattering operation is impossible in the demilitarized zone without permission of the U.S. as the zone is under the control of the U.S. in actuality.

The military tension escalating between the south and the north these days is attributable to the U.S. zealous backing of these operations behind the scene, the statement said, urging the U.S. to stop at once its acts of threatening the life and security of the people and deteriorating the inter-Korean relations.
