S. Korean Authorities Censured for Giving up Right to OPECON
Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- South Korean people from all walks of life condemned the puppet authorities for giving up the right to wartime operation control (OPECON), according to CBS of south Korea.

At least 50 organizations including the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification held a press conference outside the Ministry of Defence on Oct. 24. They strongly demanded the cancellation of the agreement, saying that the extension of the transfer of the right to OPECON is an act of infringing upon the interests of the people and seriously threatening peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia.

The Reunification Association of the Citizens Federation for Economic Justice in a statement said that overturning the agreement on extending the transfer twice is an international shame.

There is great likelihood that the U.S. will pressurize south Korea to join in the missile defense system and deploy THAAD there in the future in return for deferring the transfer, the statement noted.
