25th National Software Contest and Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- The 25th national software contest and exhibition opened with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House here on Tuesday.

The software contest will be divided into such panels as software-making tool, computer virus vaccine, simulation experiment and practice, remote-control education, software for analyzing simulation sports games and translation program.

The software exhibition will be divided into 17 panels including operating system and security, artificial intelligence and Korean language information processing and introduction of CNC system into production process. At least a thousand computer programs and various devices and components will be displayed at the exhibition.

Among them are the successes ministries, national institutions and industrial establishments have made by putting their work systems on an IT basis and programs presented by teachers, researchers and students of universities, colleges and computer talents-training centers.

Present at the ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, officials concerned and program developers.

Choe Sang Gon, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, made an opening address.

He underlined the need to make contributions to developing Korean-style program-making technology and more dynamically stepping up the drive for putting the national economy on an IT basis.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the exhibition.
