Stop to Suppression of Progressive Organization Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea released a commentary on Tuesday demanding the regime stop clamping down upon it.

The commentary recalled that on Tuesday the Seoul Central District Court admitted the innocence of the co-representative of the Seoul branch of the organization who had been suppressed by the ill-famed "Security Law".

This clearly proved the legitimacy of the organization which has called for termination of war drills, abrogation of alliance with the U.S. and withdrawal of U.S. troops from south Korea, it noted, adding:

The security authorities are working hard to check the activities of the organization by labeling it illegal one "benefiting the enemy" but it can no longer work.

The Intelligence Service's forcible search of the organization and the prosecution's groundless indictment were prompted by the aim to weaken the organization's campaign for checking the construction of the naval base on Jeju Island.

The commentary urged the prosecution to stop such a reckless repressive racket.

Suppression of the movement for peace and reunification and groundless racket for "eliminating followers of the north" should be halted, the commentary held.
