The statement said:

President Kim Il Sung devoted his all to the cause of national reunification all his life.

The President set forth the three principals of national reunification, the five-point policy for national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country, etc. in order to achieve national reunification. A particular mention should be made of the fact that he put forward the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo on Oct. 10, 1980.

No matter how the situation changed, the validity of the above-said proposals for Korea's reunification advanced by the President has been proved century after century.

We who are desirous of independent reunification of Korea declare as follows on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the proposal.

1. We are confident that the proposal advanced by the President is the most reasonable one for the reunification supported by all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad.

2. We once again call upon the world progressives to wholeheartedly support the struggle of the Korean people for rejecting foreign forces' interference and reunifying the country by the concerted efforts of the nation.

3. We demand the U.S. stop moving to stifle the DPRK at once and pull its forces out of south Korea and also demand the south Korean authorities make substantial efforts to reunify the Korean peninsula.
