Rodong Sinmun Discloses U.S. Purpose of Selling F-35s to S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- Recently, the south Korean puppet forces formally announced that it would purchase 40 F-35 fighters from the U.S.

Washington promised to transfer the technology of developing fighters to south Korea as a quid pro quo for its sale of F-35s to the latter.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a commentary in this regard:

Lurking behind this is an ulterior design of the U.S. to more zealously prod the south Korean puppet forces into escalating the confrontation with the DPRK in a bid to strain the situation into an extreme pitch and ignite the second Korean war.

There is another aim sought by Washington in selling F-35s to south Korea.

F-35 fighter is a multi-purpose stealth fighter with long-range flight. Its operation sphere covers areas far beyond the Korean Peninsula.

This means that its mission is not to conduct military operations over the peninsula only.

It is an objective of Washington to carry out its pivot-to-Asia-Pacific strategy by dint of its military muscle. As it considers the peninsula as an area of key importance, it seeks to stifle the DPRK by force of arms, contain its neighboring big powers and thus dominate the region.

Foreign media also comment that the ultimate aim sought by the U.S. in its sale of fighters to south Korea is to contain China, Russia and other countries near the peninsula.

The U.S. authorities would be well advised to bear in mind that their single action would invite ten, nay a hundred stronger counter-measures.
