DPRK Footballers Welcomed
Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- DPRK footballers returned home Tuesday after securing a berth for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup by coming first in the 2014 AFC U-16 Championship held in Thailand from Sept. 6 to 20.

Tongsong Bridge, Chollima Street and Mansudae Street from Pyongyang Railway Station were crowded with people from all walks of life and school youth and children with flags, bunches of flowers and balloons in their hands.

When the train carrying the footballers pulled in Pyongyang Railway Station the crowd turned the station into a sea of flowers.

They were greeted by Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C, the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) who doubles as chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission who doubles as vice-chairman of the commission, Kim Yang Gon, secretary of the C.C., the WPK who doubles as member of the commission, Ri Ryong Nam, minister of External Economic Relations, O Kum Chol, vice-chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, and officials concerned.

Sportspersons, working people, school youth and children, and the families of the footballers congratulated them, putting garlands around their necks and presenting them with bunches of flowers.

Working people and school youth and children warmly welcomed the footballers along the route and from verandas and windows.

The footballers visited the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill and laid bouquets before them and paid tribute to them.
