Rodong Sinmun Calls for Reform of UN Security Council
Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) -- The world should no longer be dominated by the U.S. and the UN arena should no longer be controlled by specified countries, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an article.

It is most important for the UN Security Council to ensure impartiality in its activities, to begin with, in order to let it fulfill its responsibilities for international peace and security specified in the UN Charter.

The principles of respect for sovereignty, equal sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs provided for in the UN Charter are being openly ignored and "resolutions" that justify the U.S. policy for world domination are rammed through the UN due to the U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices, the article says, and goes on:

A typical example is unwarranted "resolutions" adopted by the UN Security Council on imposing unilateral sanctions on the DPRK and bringing pressure on it.

The UN Security Council backs the U.S. logic that agenda items should be taken into question depending on who sponsors them rather than what is to be taken up for discussion and echoes the U.S. sophism that certain issues can be justified or be considered as illegal depending on social systems.

This is a challenge to human aspirations and desire to see the UN performing the role of a fair international body ensuring world peace and security.

If the U.S. is allowed to realize its ambition for world domination by abusing the signboard of the UN, there will be no justice and truth in the international relations and the world will become a planet where jungle law prevails.

Voices demanding the reform of the UN Security Council are becoming louder in the international community, the article says, stressing the need for the UN not to turn a deaf ear to the just demand of the public.
