Family of National Musical Instrumentalists
Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- Dr. and associate Prof. Hwang Jin Chol, a teacher of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory, is noted for having made big contributions to developing rendition of national musical instruments along with his family members.

Hwang majors in rendition of high-pitched flute, his wife middle-sized Korean fiddle, his first daughter Korean zither and his second daughter large-sized Korean fiddle.

Hwang had been a violinist and his wife pianist before they began learning national musical instruments in July Juche 55 (1966).

Leader Kim Jong Il in his lifetime enjoyed the eldest daughter Hwang Ryon A's recital of Korean zither, highly appreciating her rendition.

The second daughter Hwang Na Yon, a student of the conservatory, came first in the 21st Individual Contest for February 16 Art Prize in February this year. It was the first time for an instrumentalist of large-sized Korean fiddle to place first in the contests.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un saw to it that Hwang's family members took part in the 9th National Meeting of Artistes held this year.
