S. Korean Fishermen Hit Hard by Red Tide
Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- S. Korean fishermen were hit hard by red tide in south Korea, according to KBS of south Korea on Sept. 11.

A large red tide occurred in the waters off Namhae County, South Kyongsang Province on Sept. 4.

Red tide was caused by an abrupt propagation of microbe due to steady rise of high temperature and pollution of sea water. This hit hard the culture ground in the waters, leaving 1.13 million fishes dead between September 6 and 10.

Red tide occurred in the area of Kuryongpho, Phohang City, North Kyongsang Province on Sept. 10, leaving more than 70 000 fishes dead. The damages in the area reached 3 billion won.
