Police Suppression of Media Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Scholar Ko Sung U posted an article on the south Korean internet paper Saram Ilbo on Sept. 4 in denunciation of the puppet police's illegal violation of the freedom of speech.

The article said that recently the police across south Korea forced the media organs which reported north-related articles to delete them.

For example, the police authorities in Kyonggi and North Jolla provinces sent official papers to media organs in Seoul and Kyonggi Province demanding them delete the north-related articles, the article noted, and went on:

Most of those articles dealt with news items of Yonhap News or quoted what it said.

It is hardly understandable for the police to make unilateral interpretation of news items of Yonhap News as "pro-north ones" and take administrative actions as it officially performs the function of receiving and reporting news about the north.

It is the abuse of power unprecedented in the past military dictatorial regime that the police demanded media delete articles.

Recalling that the police are working hard to create a terror-ridden situation under the pretext of security, the article termed this a very serious development.
