Rodong Sinmun Calls for Ensuring Peace on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- It is the most important issue in defending global peace and preventing a new world war to preserve peace on the Korean peninsula, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a commentator's article.

It goes on:

It is the way of ensuring durable peace on the peninsula to put a definite end to the U.S. policy of its forces' permanent presence in south Korea.

In order to defuse the tension and preserve the security on the peninsula, it is necessary to put the earliest possible end to the U.S.-led nuclear war drills in south Korea and its vicinity.

In order to ensure peace on the peninsula, it is necessary to have the ghost-like "UN Command" dismantled and force the U.S. troops to pull out of south Korea.

The U.S. forces in south Korea should be driven out of south Korea without fail as they are a stumbling block perpetuating the division of the country and posing a threat to peace.

As long as the U.S. forces remain in south Korea and nuclear war drills for aggression are staged periodically, the second Korean war is unavoidable.

If a peaceful environment is to be created on the peninsula, the UN Security Council should fairly deal with the issue of preserving peace on the peninsula.

Actions of threatening peace in the world have not ceased and big and small wars have gone on one after another since the end of the Second World War. This is chiefly attributable to the fact that the UNSC is acting a puppet of the U.S., failing to properly perform its function.

The reality convinced us that it is only our own strength which is dependable.

The DPRK will as ever make sustained efforts to defend the sovereignty of the country and preserve peace on the peninsula and positively contribute to ensuring peace and security of the world, holding aloft the banner of Songun, the article concludes.
