S. Korean Writers Start Hunger Strike
Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Members of the south Korean writers' society held a press conference and launched a hunger strike at the Kwanghwamun plaza in Seoul on Aug. 26 in demand of the probe into the truth about the ferry Sewol disaster.

They condemned the present chief executive for refusing to meet with the bereaved families of the victims of the ferry Sewol sinking accident although she told them to come to meet her any time.

They deplored the fact that the demands of the bereaved families are being ignored in instituting a special law on ferry Sewol because of the deceptive acts of the ruling and opposition parties.

They said that they could not repress indignation against the reckless acts of the conservative forces criticizing the bereaved families for demanding the probe into the disaster, talking about damages.

The present chief executive should take measures to prevent the recurrence of similar disasters and keep her promises made to the bereaved families, they held.

They also called for instituting a special law granting the right to investigate and indict those responsible for the tragedy.
