Beach Volleyball Popular in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- Beach volleyball is enjoying great popularity among citizens in the DPRK.

Such volleyball courts can be seen not only on beaches but also in cities and inland and mountainous areas of the country.

Kim Chung Gwan, chairman of the Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, People's Committee, told KCNA when he was interviewed at the beach volleyball court built in the district:

From olden times the Koreans have enjoyed sports very much.

It is now a trend in the country to build beach volleyball courts in wading pools after the emergence of the Rungna Wading Pool two years ago.

So, we recently built a beach volleyball court in a park of the district, with 100 tons of sand brought from beaches, to meet the inhabitants' growing demand for it.

At present the park is crowded every day with inhabitants playing beach volleyball and other sports events.
