Russian Papers Observe DPRK's Important Days
Pyongyang, August 23 (KCNA) -- Russian papers carried special write-ups on the occasions of the Day of Songun (August 25) and the 61st anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Komsomolskaya Pravda on August 13 edited several articles illustrated with photos of leader Kim Jong Il inspecting units of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

The paper in an article titled "Kim Jong Il, great brilliant commander in the era of Songun" said:

August 25 is the Day of Songun in the DPRK.

That day in 1960 Kim Jong Il visited the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the KPA, an event of great significance.

He inspected many units of the KPA till the last moments of his life, training it as an invincible army and bolstering up the country's military capability in every way and thereby providing a sure military guarantee for the victory of the socialist cause.

Grown to be elite forces fully prepared politically and ideologically in strategy and tactics and military technique under his guidance, the KPA has always won victories in confrontation with the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces.

The DPRK is proving invincible thanks to single-minded unity, remaining strong with self-defence and achieving prosperity thanks to the industrial revolution in the new century. This eye-opening reality of the DPRK would be unthinkable without the Songun leadership feats of Kim Jong Il.

The 29th issue of Veteran in an article titled "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, July 27" introduced the army and people of the DPRK who wrought such world historic miracles as defeating the U.S. imperialists, who boasted of being "the strongest" in the world for the first time in history, under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung.

It accused the U.S. imperialists of getting frantic with their war exercises for aggression, oblivious of the disgraceful defeat they sustained in the Korean war, and pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of a war.
