S. Korean Authorities Accused of Opening Rice Market
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- At least 1 000 peasants belonging to the Federation of Women Peasants Associations of south Korea held a rally at Seoul Square on August 20 in protest against the puppet authorities' moves to open the rice market, according to Voice of People, an internet paper of south Korea.

At the rally speakers denounced the "government" for unilaterally declaring on July 18 the total opening of the rice market without an agreement with the people.

In the past the "government" indiscriminately opened the farm produce market, driving the agriculture into a bankruptcy and putting the life of not only peasants but other people in destitution, they charged.

If the "government" totally opens the rice market, this will trigger off a disaster much bigger than the ferry Sewol sinking accident, they warned.

They declared that if the authorities do not retract the decision on totally opening the rice market, they would launch a strong action for the resignation of the regime.

At the end of the rally the participants staged a demo.
