DPRK Military Researcher on Significance of Songun Policy
Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the 54th anniversary of the great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun (army-first) revolutionary leadership (Aug. 25), the servicepersons and citizens of the DPRK recollect the feats he performed in turning the country into a nuclear weapons state.

The United States is well aware that its design for world domination can never come true as long as the DPRK remains a stronghold of the anti-imperialist struggle and, that is why the former has persisted on the moves to stifle the latter, Ra Yong Sun, vice-director of the Scientific Research Department of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, said, adding:

Generalissimo Kim Jong Il's start of Songun guidance made it possible to protect the peace and security of the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world. It was a manifestation of the DPRK's fixed will to invariably advance along the road of the Songun revolution pioneered on Mt. Paektu.

Under his guidance, the DPRK has covered the road of victories and glory, foiling the U.S. scheme for world supremacy.

In the 1990's, the U.S. got hell-bent on the military offensive and economic blockade against the DPRK by taking the advantage of collapse of the socialist camp. But such unprecedented hostile actions, taken by the U.S. and its allies, made the DPRK emerge a nuclear weapons state.

After all, the U.S. proved to be powerless in showdown with the DPRK which has pursued the Songun policy.

In this regard, a professor of Inje University in south Korea said it is doubtful that any special sanctions, to be imposed by the U.S. and others, would take effect on the DPRK and that the current strategic patience could hardly be a solution for the U.S. in consideration of the DPRK's efforts to improve the performance of nuclear weapons and extend their range.

A senior researcher at the Cato Research Institute, U.S. said American leaders were plunging themselves into a quagmire as regards north Korea policy. In fact, the Obama administration's north Korea policy is beset with danger of causing the worst results, the researcher warned.

The U.S. had better to think twice over the confrontation with the DPRK.
