Papers Call for Conducting Brisk August 3 Consumer Goods Production Movement
Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The start of the August 3 consumer goods production movement helped meet the needs of the people for consumer goods and give fuller play to the advantages of Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses, say newspapers Sunday in editorials.

Providing field guidance to the Pyongyang City light industrial goods exhibition on August 3, Juche 73 (1984), leader Kim Jong Il kindled the torch for the consumer goods production movement.

The movement is the mass movement which helps produce varieties of consumer goods by enlisting the creativeness of the masses and tapping inner reserves.

Rodong Sinmun says that the movement is associated with the noble intention and immortal efforts of Kim Jong Il who always worked heart and soul to make the Korean people enjoy a happy life and provide them with more better consumer goods.

It goes on:

Right after its start the movement displayed great attraction. Units for consumer goods production increased across the country and housewives and pensioners fully displayed their talents and enthusiasm with new jobs helpful to the country and useful to families.

The firm foundation of the consumer goods production provided by Kim Jong Il with his heart and soul and much effort and rich experience gained in this course serve as precious assets and might which make the DPRK dash like a wind for improving the people's living standard.

The paper calls for making redoubled efforts with the same spirit, enthusiasm and will as done in the 1980s, producing varieties of more quality consumer goods and thus glorifying forever the immortal exploits of the peerless great persons of Mt. Paektu and making hurrah of socialism resound forth across the country.

Minju Joson calls on officials and other people in all fields and units to fully demonstrate the validity and vitality of the August 3 consumer goods production movement.
