Brazilian Criticizes U.S.-S. Korea Joint Military Drills
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The UN Security Council should call into question the offensive, threatening and provocative joint military drills of the U.S. and south Korea in order to fulfill its mission for the world peace and security.

Acilino Riveiro, national coordinator of the Genuine Democratic Movement of Brazil, said this in a statement on July 24.

He referred to the fact that recently the UN Security Council made public a resolution criticizing the DPRK at an unofficial consultative meeting at which it termed the DPRK's launch of short-range missiles a "violation of resolution".

He went on:

All the military measures of the Korean People's Army including launch of tactical rockets are the exercise of the right to self-defense to protect the sovereignty of the country and security of the nation to cope with the U.S. nuclear threat and moves for aggression.

The DPRK set forth several proposals for peace on its own initiative including the crucial proposal and special proposal of the National Defence Commission and the statement of the DPRK government, and took practical measures for realizing them.

But, the U.S. together with south Korea waged Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military drills and combined landing exercise and combined air drill largest ever since 1993.

It is unpardonable that the UNSC turned blind eyes to the frantic war drills for aggression and nuclear threats by the U.S. and took the issue with the DPRK over its inevitable option to cope with them.

We strongly demand that the UNSC maintain impartiality in the settlement of international issues and call into question the U.S.-south Korea joint military drills against the DPRK and stop them.
