Anniversary of Victory in Fatherland Liberation War Celebrated in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The army and the people of the DPRK significantly celebrated the 61st anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Service personnel, people from all walks of life and school youth and children across the country visited the statues and portraits of smiling President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il to pay high tribute to them.

They visited the revolutionary sites associated with the feats for war victory performed by the President.

Service personnel, working people and school youth and children laid wreaths, bouquets and flowers before the statues of martyrs, cemeteries of martyrs, monuments to fallen fighters of the Korean People's Army and graves of martyrs across the country.

Art performances celebrating the day of war victory were given at theaters in Pyongyang and local areas.

The revolutionary drama "Following the Banner of Victory" was given by the National Theatrical Troupe at the National Theatre.

A concert celebrating the day of war victory was given at the Moranbong Theatre.

Music and dance performance "July 27, Eternal Victory Day" was given by artistes of the National Folk Art Troupe at the Ponghwa Art Theater, the revolutionary opera "Sea of Blood" by artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe at the Pyongyang Grand Theater and colorful acrobatic pieces at the Pyongyang Circus Theater.

Performances were also given at the Jagang Provincial Art Theater, Hamhung Grand Theater and in other parts of the country.

Members of the women's union in Pyongyang revved up the atmosphere of the war V-day with chorus of wartime songs at the plazas of the Monument to Party Founding, the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and other different places of Pyongyang.

There took place in Jagang Province a contest of singing wartime songs in chorus of students and a performance given by members of art groups of the "1 000-ri Journey for Learning" Schoolchildren's Palace.

Members of the women's union in Songchongang District, Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province put on the stage songs reflecting the reverence for the illustrious commanders, and wartime songs.

Meetings with war veterans and sports and amusement games took place at the construction sites of stockbreeding base of Sepho Tableland and power stations in tiers on the Chongchon River.

Youth and students across the country significantly spent the day of war victory, presenting cheerful dances.
