30,000-Strong Workers' Rally Demands Resignation of "Government" in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a rally for launching a large-scale strike at Seoul Square on July 22 in demand of the resignation of the "government" and for life and security, according to the south Korean newspaper Nodong and Segye.

The rally was attended by more than 30,000 workers belonging to the confederation.

Chairman of the confederation Sin Sung Chol, speaking at the rally, vowed to wage a more dynamic action for the resignation of the "government" to put an end to the avarice of capital and power which accounts for less than one percent and build a world where all people are respected.

A resolution was read out at the rally.

It said the "government" has been engrossed in violent policy in disregard of the true nature of the disaster that was caused by its incompetency and avarice of capital.

The "government's" policy is aimed to deceive the people and kill workers, it said, and continued:

The strike of the confederation is to call the incompetent "president" to task, demand her resignation and win the rights of workers.

We will not stop the action for building a world where the life of all workers and security of all other people are ensured.

At the end of the rally the participants went to Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul where bereaved families of victims of the ferry Sewol disaster were holding a hunger strike, and staged a 10 million-people signature campaign demanding the institution of a special law on the disaster.

Before the rally, federations under the confederation held similar rallies in different parts of Seoul on the same day.
