Kim Il Sung Initiates Tunnel Tactics during Korean War
Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- In the last Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953) the Korean People's Army defeated the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest in the world".

The victory of the KPA in the war was ascribable to the unique war tactics initiated by President Kim Il Sung.

Those tactics include a tunnel tactics, whose might was clearly displayed in a battle fought on Height 153.7 in Kosong County, Kangwon Province, in July 1952.

To defend the height, a KPA company had to fight the enemy's one regiment that made wavelike attacks for at least 14 hours a day. The fierce battle left more than 900 enemy troops dead or injured, with no loss on the part of the company relied on the tunnel tactics.

The tactics also led the battles on Height 1 211 to victory. In 1952 alone, the enemy dropped 4 160 bombs and showered 527,260 shells per one square kilometer of the height. But, the battles ended in victory for the KPA.
