Participants in Rallies, Demos Suppressed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- The south Korean internet paper Voice of People on July 15 said the authorities are further intensifying than ever before the suppression of the participants in rallies and demos.

According to it, the number of legal actions taken against the participants in rallies and demos so far increased by 67.2 percent as against last year; that of detainees swelled to nearly 216.7 percent and that of those left without physical detention by 74.1 percent. 355 participants in memorial services for the victims of the ferry Sewol disaster were subject to those legal actions.

The paper expressed concern over the threat made by the police authorities to continue walking off participants in rallies and demos and severely punish their sponsors.
